Free · Mac and Windows

One desk. Several computers. One shortcut.

SwitchDesk hands your monitor, keyboard and mouse to another computer in one go. No KVM box and no cable swapping: it uses the switching your hardware already has.

$ SwitchDesk --switch "work mac"
monitor to USB-C, keyboard and mouse to channel 1

It presses the buttons you would have pressed.

Your monitor can already change input and your Logitech keyboard and mouse can already change computer. SwitchDesk asks all of them at once, from the computer you are leaving. Nothing has to be running on the computer you switch to.

01 · DDC/CI

The monitor

Told to show another input through the control channel that is already inside the display cable. Most desktop monitors accept it.

02 · Easy-Switch

Keyboard and mouse

Each Logitech Easy-Switch device is sent to the channel paired with the other computer, then checked, and asked again if it stayed.

03 · AES-256-GCM

A shared clipboard

Copy text on one computer and paste it on the other. It travels encrypted between the two apps and stays on your local network.

Three ways to switch

CtrlAlt1

A shortcut

One global shortcut per computer, chosen by you. The setup suggests free ones.

Switch to Work Mac

A menu

SwitchDesk sits in the menu bar on a Mac and in the tray on Windows, with one line per computer.

--switch "my mac"

A command

For scripts and launchers. It takes a name, an alias or something close enough, and there is a Claude Code skill built on it.

Hardware it works with

Any monitor that accepts input switching over DDC/CI, and Logitech keyboards and mice with Easy-Switch connected over Bluetooth. Any mix works, even a single device.

Monitors use different numbers for their inputs. A profile gives them their real names. Without one, SwitchDesk still works: you pick the value your monitor uses.

Devices on a Unifying or Bolt receiver are supported in code and not yet tested. A Mac needs Apple Silicon to talk to the monitor.

New profiles reach installed apps by themselves, about once a week. To send yours, open Settings, Hardware, Submit this hardware. No account is needed.
